Natural boar hair bristle brushes are topped in ornately engraved sterling
silver. These are and were for removing lint from clothing. Forget sticky tape
This is so much more refined. The heavier brown bristle brush is for wools and
heavier fabrics and the light colored bristle brush serves to remove lint from
cottons and heavier silks. These would have been an integral part of the
dressing process for an Edwardian gentleman or lady and would have been for
travel, evidenced by the red silk lined Moroccan leather travel case.
Superb scroll work of fronds and flowers decorate the top of each brush; one
bearing a monogram of WAF and the other unmarked. No maker's mark on either
brush, but these are supremely light and show a mark for STERLING. The leather
case is also marked TRAVELERS LEATHER MARK on the case. Each measures 8 1/4"
long by 3" wide. Exceptional condition.
