What is a Hydrolat?

The Damascus rose is the most powerful rose. Each of the petals is carefully
picked very early in the morning, with dew and it takes more than 4000 kg to
produce 1L of essential oil. Compared to true lavender which requires only
150 kg to produce 1L of essential oil. So you'll understand why this elixir is
an exceptionally powerful ally for your skin.

Hydrolats are aromatic waters also called floral waters. They are derived from
the distillation of a plant or flower with water vapour in order to obtain an
essential oil. When the distillation process is initiated, the water vapour
leads the aromatic molecules into the still. As it cools, the steam becomes
liquid and it is at this point that the essential, oily oil separates from the
water that is no longer quite water since it has been loaded with aromatic
molecules. It's hydrolat!
