Here is a simply fabulous item from the mid-1960s by the Delina brand - a
fantastic silver-plated 3-piece vanity set for your dressing-table, comprising
hairbrush, clothes brush and hand mirror. The pattern on the backs is a typical
mid-1960s abstract wiggly design in textured and shiny silver-plated metal. A
very striking design indeed and much less fussy and more eye-catching than its
predecessors tended to be. This set is in pretty good condition, with the
beautiful pattern all shiny. There are a few surface scratches here and there,
and a few missing bristles, which is inevitable in a set that is nearly sixty
years old.
The handles and frames are all silver-plated metal, and the two brushes both
have removable bristle plates for cleaning purposes. The metal loop at the top
presses forward (away from the plastic) to release the base for cleaning
purposes. The brand name Delina is on the inside.

The hairbrush measures 26cms long x 9.6cms wide (10 1/4" x 3 3/4") and has a
few missing clumps of bristles at the top, so this has clearly been well used
in the past.

The hand-mirror measures 33cms long x 13.7cms wide (13" x 5 3/8") and has
virtually clear mirror glass, so esentially fully functional as a mirror.

The clothes brush measures 15.5cms long x 4cms wide (6 1/8" x 1 1/2") and has
been lightly used in the past too. The cream plastic base with all the bristles
comes out of the silver-plated top plate quite easily - easier than the
hair-brush - and reveals the very 1950s/60s Delina brand logo on the reverse.

I love this for its fab 1960s styling and that amazing abstract wiggly pattern
!! This an excellent addition to your 1950s/60s powder compact and vanity set
collection.

DELINA
Not much information forthcoming on this company, I'm afraid, except for the
fact that they produced a very nice line in these vanity sets, usually three tp
five pieces, including possibly a comb and/or a tray that matched everything
else. They seem to have been in production from the 1940s onwards, but if
anyone knows anything about them, I would welcome some information !!
