Ornate Antique Whiting Sterling Silver Repousse Hairbrush and comb set Mono A.
This gorgeous set features a flourish and floral themed design, and was made in
1906. Whiting Manufacturing Co traces its origin to the firm Tifft & Whiting
formed in 1840 by Albert C. Tifft and William Dean Whiting. The factory, was
located in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, and was destroyed by a fire in 1875.
Thereafter they moved to New York combining its manufacturing operations and
offices into one building at 692-694 Broadway at Fourth Street. The company was
purchased by Gorham in 1924. There most famous designer was Charles Osborne who
had also worked for Tiffany.
Condition is fair, one set of bristles are missing (see photo) and I think the
comb has been replaced. Both are slightly dented. PRICE REFLECTED
