Unusual hair brush in maybe only fair condition. It has a lot of aging, wear
and some little dings; nothing large and obnoxious, but there if you look at
the closeups. But luckily not in very noticeable areas. It is missing a brad in
the front to hold the wood of the bristle portion. The bristle part is
well..... old and sort of gross. Not disgusting but just old and used, and for
me a used brush is sort of gross. I've seen worse. It is missing at least one
shoot of bristles, near the side. And the wooden part has discolorations and
stains probably from it being washed over the years (thankfully).
It is monogrammed with what looks like a AO. Judging by the style of the
letters, I would say turn of the 20th century. I don't know what the material
is, but it really hasn't tarnished on me, so I am guessing some sort of nickel
or german silver. Definitely not sterling, but maybe plate. I just can't tell.
The top is in pretty good shape actually and the high and dense relief of the
top is rather nice. There is a little mark near the monogram in some of the
photos I was able to clean off.
I really don't think it would be useable unless you are very brave and I don't
know if the bristles part can be restored. Nice piece for collector though, or
as a prop.
Please review the photos with the zoom for condition, since it is really the
best way to judge.
I don't do returns or exchanges and this is sold as is in the condition
described, but feel free to convo questions or concerns.
